Mrs. Jennie Wingate Dies Suddenly
Aged Resident of Oak Ridge Community Passes Away Thursday Morning.

Mrs. Jennie Wingate, aged 73, died suddenly at her home near Oak Ridge church Thursday morning. Mrs. Wingate had been suffering with a deep cold but had not been confined to her bed and her death was unexpected by the family. She has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lee Mefford, since the death of her husband, Newt Wingate, some three years ago.
Mrs. Wingate, whose maiden name was Virginia Kidwell, was the daughter of Nancy and Henry Kidwell, among the very first settlers in that part of Shelby county. She was born and spent most of her life in the immediate neighborhood, making her home after her marriage to Mr. Wingate, within a short distance of her old home. She leaves two sons, John of Clarence and James of Lentner, and one daughter, Mrs. Lee Mefford, with whom she made her home. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Oak Ridge Saturday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. G. W. Humphrey, former pastor of the Oak Ridge church of which church Mrs. Wingate was one of the oldest members.
