Canadian religious leader and third bishop of Rimouski. A native of Carleton (Quebec), he made his secondary and theological studies at the seminary of Rimouski and was ordered priest there on February 25, 1899. He worked as secretary of the bishop from 1896 to 1904 and was then named director of the great seminary in 1905. From 1907 to 1919, he served as pastor successively of the parishes of Saint-Damase, Saint-Octave-de-Métis and Mont-Joli. Appointed titular canon in 1913, he was elected bishop of Rimouski at the consistory of December 1919 and was consecrated in his cathedral by Cardinal Bégin on February 25, 1920. Moreover, he acted as administrator of the new diocese of Gaspé, from May 6, 1922 to February 25, 1923. As soon as he took possession of his episcopal see, he got involved in the promotion of the religious and social works of his diocese, especially vocations and colonization. Due to his very weak health,he was constrained to resign his seat on November 27, 1926. Next 20 December, he was published titular bishop of Agathopolis, while remaining administrator of Rimouski until 1928. He passed away in Chandler and he was buried in his hometown cemetery.
