Composer, Conductor. Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1911, his Hungarian-born father was Alfred Sendrey, noted composer and opera and symphony conductor. His mother Eugenia had been a soprano at the Vienna Opera under Gustav Mahler. After attending music schools in Paris and London in the early 1930s he returned to the United States and moved to Hollywood where he took a job at the Hollywood Bowl. Through a mutual friend who knew Cole Porter he gained entrance into the movie business and for most of the 1940s and 50s he was a staff arranger for MGM. During that time he composed and arranged music for over 170 films and television shows but received little on screen credit for itas a staff arranger. He is however credited for background scores on "The Yellow Cab Man" (1950), "Father's Little Dividend" (1951) and "Kansas Pacific" (1953). In addition to his movie work he did orchestrations for many television series including Bonanza, Wagon Train and Ben Casey. In 1953 he began working for Las Vegas hotels and in 1956 he took a job as pianist, arranger and conductor for Tony Martin, a job he continued to hold until 2002.
