Son of Ransom Hayes and Martha Almira Sanderson Sloan, husband of Nora Quinn.


MARION - Cyrus Thompson Sloan, 66, well known Marion businessman, died suddenly Friday night, following a heart attack suffered at a football game here the same evening.


Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Marion Baptist Church by Dr. BF Allen, pastor. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.


A native of Duplin County, NC, Mr. Sloan came to Marion in 1908. He obtained the Coca-Cola franchise for the county and later added Horry County to this business. Several years ago he organized the Coastal Distributing Company, with widespread interests in both North and South Carolina. In recent years he had been occupied with large farming interests here. He was a deacon in the Baptist Church.


He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nora Quinn Sloan; one son, CT Sloan, Jr. of Marion; two daughters, Mrs. WE Hall of Marion and Mrs. HB Holmes of Conway; two brothers, R Steadman Sloan of Columbia and former Representative AG Sloan of Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Wood and Mrs. Robert Brunson of Beulaville, NC; and 3 grandchildren.
