OBITUARY NOTICE
"Mrs. Louise Ross Sherman. Mrs. Louise Ross Sherman, whose sudden death on Dec. 04 came as a shock to her many friends, was a resident of Binghamton from earliest childhood. She was born In Lisle in Feb. 12, 1840, of old Puritan stock. Her father, Rufus King Amory, was born on his father's estate, which is now included in Central Park. New York. Her mother, Jennette Montgomery Allerton, was a descendant of Mary Allerton, who came over In the Mayflower and was the last survivor of that famous band of Pilgrims. In 1859 Louise Amory was married to Harmon M. Ross and after his death returned to her father's home, the Amory homestead, which is now the Lady Jane Grey School. She was married to Stephen A. Sherman on Dec. 28. 1865. and from that time until her death resided at 226 Court street. Her brothers, James H., Theodore T., and William R. Amory are dead, the only survivor of the old family being Mrs. Franklin Harding of Rochester. Her daughter, Mrs. William C. Hoff, at whose home she died, lives in Yonkers and her son, Frank Amory Sherman, at her home, 226 Court Street, this city."
