Mira was named for her maternal grandmother, (and my 3rd great-grandmother), Mira Wilkerson Queen. Her maternal grandfather was William Allen Queen, Sr. She shared the name "Ursilla" with her father's (Sherod) sister, Barbara Ursilla Banther Hall, who in turn named one of her sons Sherod in honor of her brother. Mira's father did not return from the War Between the States. Mira grew up in Montford Cove, Rutherford County, married and later moved to Henrietta in the opposite part of the county. The cotton mills of Rutherford County were opening around the turn of the century and the offer of steady pay pulled many country people to the mill villages. I can only suppose this is the reason for the move as Mira and her husband left their families and the community their families had called home for several generations.
