Reinhardt Karst
Reinhardt Karst, the oldest son of Reinhardt Karst and his wife, Katherine Margaretha, nee Milberger, was born in Eckheim, Russia, August 5, 1874. In the boy's fourth year of life the family emigrated to America and settled in Russell county. Here he grew to manhood spending his youth attending the public school and the religious training in the Immanuel Lutheran congregation of Milberger. April 12, 1889, he was confirmed by the Rev. A. F. Augustin. His days of youth were for quite a period deeply shadowed by the serious illness of typhoid fever.
January 23, 1901, the deceased was married to Miss Bertha Radke to which union five children were born. One of them died in infancy. About that time he lost one of his eyes in an accident. On January 4 it had been 28 years that his dear companion was taken by death from his side at the age of 28 years.
On April 21, 1911, he was married to Mrs. Eva Schuman, thereby also adopting two step-daughters, Emilie and Therese Schuman, who he had brought up together with the three children born to him by the second wife.
He leaves to mourn his departure four children of the first marriage, F. W. Karst, of Wakeeney, Mrs Martha Strecker, of Galatia, Julius, of Denver, Hubert, of Wakeeney; three children of the second marriage, Richard of Russell, Mrs. Bertha Gatrel, of WaKeeney and Herman of the home. Three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Dietz of Russell, Mrs. Emilie Fabricius, of Wakeeney and Mrs. Ottilie Eichman, of Hoisington.
