Edwin T. Alexander was the son of James P. and Clara Alexander. His father was a shoe maker in Elkton, Maryland. Around 1897, he married Mary G. of New Jersey. They were the parents of two girls: Elizabeth and Katherine. Primarily, Edwin worked as a tinsmith and lived in Elkton, Maryland, but for a brief time around 1910, he lived in Middletown, Delaware, and worked as a plumber.
