He married his wife Maria Van Etten on December 3, 1853

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, and children, John V. of Harrisburg Neb., Mrs. Hannah Titman of Matamoras, Hugh O. of Delaware Township, Daniel V., of Lehman Township and Blanche Shepherd of Silver Lake Road, Delaware Township.

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP RESIDENT, AGED 86 YEARS

Born and Always Lived on Farm Where he Died.

David O. Brodhead for many years one of the prominent farmer citizens of Delaware township, died at this home on Tuesday morning, aged 86 years. He was the son of Nicholas and Margaret (Owens) Brodhead, who were pioneers in that part of Pike county, and was born July 24, 1821 on the farm which had always been his home. Mr. Brodhead's grandfather, the first owner of the Brodhead farm, was a soldier in the Revolutionary war.

David O. Brodhead was reared and educated in the township of his birth, where he also received his agricultural training, under his father's tuition. He prospered in his life vocation, by constant industry and years of hard labor managing to derive a good income from his farm.

Deceased was a highly respected citizen and was well liked all over the township, where his friends were numerous. In his younger days he was actively and prominently identified with local public affairs. He was honored with election to various offices in the gift of his fellow townsmen, serving at different times as supervisor, collector and overseer of the poor, in all of which capacities he gave general satisfaction. Politically he was a staunch Democrat. Mr. Brodhead retired from active farm work about fifteen years ago.

On Dec. 3, 1853, at Delaware, deceased married Miss Maria Van Etten, and in 1903 they celebrated their golden wedding. Mrs. Brodhead survives with the following children: John V. of Harrisburg, Hannah Titman of Matamoras, ???, Blanche, wife of Robinson Shepherd of Silver Lake, Hugh O., of Delaware township. A brother, Garrett Brodhead, also of Delaware township, survives.

The funeral will be held from the house on Friday morning at 11 o'clock.
