John Wesley Wroe was born at Daviston, Greene County, Pennsylvania February 2, 1841. In 1861 he enlisted in the 6th West Virginia Vol. Infantry and served until the close of the war.
He came to Fayette County, Iowa in 1865 and was united in marriage to Clarinda Graves October 7th, 1876.
Mr. Wroe was a man who had the respect of everyone who knew him. He was a hard-working man and was well liked by all his neighbors.
The funeral was held at the Methodist Church in Volga City on Sunday and the remains were laid to rest in the Volga City Cemetery. He leaves to mourn his wife and adopted son, Lester.
