MISS MARY E. ASHBY

Buried Sunday in Springdale Cemetery

The funeral of Miss Mary E. Ashby took place yesterday afternoon at two o'clock from her residence on East Third street. She had been all her life a quiet, modest, unassuming Christian, and the services were simple in accordance with her known wishes. She had been from her girlhood a consistent member of the Methodist church, and her pastor, Rev. W. H. McDowell, of Trinity church, delivered an appropriate sermon at the house, paying tribute to her exemplary life. Music was rendered by a quartet composed of Mrs. W. H. McDowell, Mrs. Chrles Wolf, Miss Elizabeth Williams and Miss Mayme Grayson. The friends selected to serve as pall bearers were Messrs. Greenville Johnson, Norval M. Verry, Theodore Evans, Charles Blair, George Kampe and George Wiley.
