There is an error on the date of her death on the stone because the date from the mortuary lists her date of death as June 24, 1913, and date of burial was June 26, 1913. Funeral was held at the Sylvan Church.

Due to errors on Catharine’s bio I feel compelled to post the correct information for other ancestors of Catharine. Below is a detailed bio on Catharine (Becker) Phillips Whipple. All of the information given can be backed up by a deposition I have that Catharine gave regarding her first husband Joseph before she married Lyman and she names their children where they lived etc. The names she gives of her family and Joseph’s can be backed up by census records. Joseph’s sister Nancy also gave a deposition and she also listed Catharine and Joseph’s children which is how I know they had 8 children and not 7.Catharine first married Joseph Phillips in 1838 in New York. The couple had the following 8 children:Mandville Benjamin: 1838 – Oct 10, 1864 died at Lookout Mountain during the Civil War; Anna Phillips: 1843 - ; Seth Phillips: Dec 24, 1844 – Oct 2, 1929 Civil War Vet buried at Gull River; John B Phillips: 1849 – April 29, 1903; Almira (Phillips) Davidson Jan 1851 – 1928 buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Auroraville, Waushara County, WI; Alberta H (Phillips) Cole, McElroy: Jan 28 1855 – April 22, 1920 she is buried in Havana, Sargent County, ND (no headstone); Alnetta Madora (Phillips) Whipple: Jan 28, 1855 – April 22, 1920 Lynden, Whatcom County, WA; Abraham J Phillips: April 1859 –Joseph was discharged in May, 1863 from the Civil War for medical reasons listed as meningitis and he died in Illinois about 1863. According to a deposition given by Catharine and his sister Nancy, Catharine stated she had not seen Joseph after he left home in November, 1863. Nancy stated that she hadn’t seen Joseph since he left New York in about 1855.According to Catharine’s deposition Anna, her oldest daughter married and stayed in Wisconsin. She lost track of her and the family never heard from her. She listed a couple of married names for her, but I have not researched this part of the family tree yet.In 1866 or 67 Catharine and her children moved to Wisconsin to be closer to her brothers Jacob and John who were married to two of Joseph’s sister Susan and Nancy. It was there that she met Lyman Whipple another Civil War Vet. They married in 1868 in Wisconsin at the home of Nancy (Phillips) and John Becker. In the early 1880’s they moved to Minnesota with their children and a granddaughter who lived with them for several years until she married. The date of death on Catharine’s stone is listed as the 22nd, but according to the records from the mortuary they list her date of death as June 24, 1913 and date of burial as June 26, 1913. Funeral was held at Sylvan Church. The Minnesota death record also lists her date of death as June 24, 1913, so that must be her legal date of death and therefore an error on the stone. For several years a nephew, Martin Braga, also lived with Catharine, but after Catharine’s death he returned to Elgin, Kane County IL where he is buried by his parents in South Elgin Cemetery. His mother, Lana (Becker) Braga, was Catharine’s sister. All information on these ancestors were found either in Catharine’s deposition, Civil War and census records, County birth, marriage and death records, local cemeteries, Ancestry.com, Find A Grave, etc.
