Elizabeth Jane Carpenter was born the daughter of _____ Carpenter and Prudence Mallory. They are buried in Joliet, Illinois. Elizabeth was married to James Sandford Brewer Sr. on December 4, 1850 in Joliet, Illinois. He is buried in this cemetey. James and Elizabeth were parents of eight children.

~0bit~Eliza Jane Carpenter was born May 2, 1835 at Oneida, New York. When an infant six months old she came with her parents to Joliet, Illinois, where she spent her childhood days and young woman hood. On December 4, 1850 she was married to J. S. Brewer at Joliet, and eight children came to bless their home. In June they came to Iowa, settling at Newtonville, Buchanan County, Iowa, where they resided until August 1891, when they came to Walker where she made her home until the summons came to "come up higher". In early womanhood she united with the Methodist Protestant Church at Newtonville, and with a short interval, continued a faithful member of that communtion until the end. She was also a member of the Womens Relief Corps for many years. She was no stranger to sorrow for the angel of death came on February 8th, 1918 and called her devoted husband, J. S. Brewer, and she was called upon to part with two children, Ida, who died in infancy and Emma who died at the age of 15 years. she has been in feeble health for a long time and has not seen a well day for two years, and has failed greatly since last October, and for the past ten days has been confined to her bed. She passed away Sunday, April 25 at 8 a.m. at the ripe old age of 84 years, 11 months and 22 days. She had repeatedly prayed that God take her home and release her from her sufferings, she said she wanted to go home and be with "Pa" and the other children. When asked by her faithful daugher, who had ministered to her and has been her devoted companion all through the years of her feebleness if she did no feel better, she answered "Yes", and this was her last word. She is survived by six children, Albert of Springfield, Missouri, Missouri; William Alonzo of Belmond, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Bailey of St. Paul, Minnesota; John E. of Superior, Wisconsin; Mrs. Belle Brewer of Walker and James S. of Albert Lea, Minnesota. She also leaves 24 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Avis ____ (CLOTHIER (?) of Minneapolis, also __ ___ ________
