She entered into eternal rest on Oct. 21, 2011 at Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg.
She attended Brunswick County Public Schools and was employed with ER Carpenter until she retired. Margaret became a member of Zion Baptist Church in Purdy.
Margaret leaves five children, Rebecca Lewis, Melvin Mays, and Irvin Mays, of Richmond, Clarence Mays, Chesterfield, and Kenneth Mays of Petersburg; one sister, Gracie Reed; one brother, James Fletcher, Freeman; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; Odelia Murphy Gibbs, Corena and Shirley Mays of Dolphin; three brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday Oct. 28, 2011 from First Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, with interment in the Smith/Moss Family Cemetery, Adsit. Brown's Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
