The community was shocked to learn of the death of Mrs John M Blocher, 73, which occurred at 9:45 Monday morning at her home on North Elkhart Street. Although she was not bedfast, she had been in ill-health for some time. Death was caused by heart complications which developed from suffering from a goiter.

As the daughter of Ephraim and Mary Martin Musser, Amanda Musser was born in Harrison Township on December 29, 1868. She grew to womanhood in this community, getting the elements of her education in the common schools of this community.

On January 1, 1898, she was united in marriage to Mr Blocher and they established their home here where she lived until the time of her passing.

Three daughters were born: Mrs Walter (Mary) Gongwer, Mrs Clayton (Florence) Anglemyer and Mrs Virgil (Hazel) Weldy, who survive with the companion. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Carolyn and Sharon Gongwer, Marilyn and Shirley Weldy, and one brother, Enos Musser, who lives on the farm on which Mrs Blocher was born.

She has been a member of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church for many years and was active in the services until illness made impossible for her to attend.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon, with a prayer service at the home at 1:30, followed by a further service at the local Mennonite Brethren in Christ church at 2 o'clock. The Revs A B Yoder and Kenneth Geiger will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek cemetery.
