Benjamin married in Gardiner, ME, May 9, 1822 by Samuel Jewett, J of P, Martha Soule Knox, who was born in Pittston, ME, July 16, 1802, daughter of Joshua and Hannah Knox of Pittston. As a boy, he lived in New Vineyard, ME and helped to cut what is known as the Canada Road, through the wilderness. He later settled on a farm in that part of Gardiner now known as West Gardiner, ME, where he died May 18, 1878. His widow died there August 19, 1884; both buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Gardiner.
