Mark was born in Regina, Saskatchewan as one of five sons and one daughter to Onufrey and Annie Perepelycia. He had a long rewarding naval career with the Royal Canadian Navy serving since 1939 and retiring in 1966 as a Lieutenant-Commander (Supply) at Esquimalt, B.C. After retirement, he got involved in politics and had the pleasure to assist Dr. Scott Wallace when he was the Conservative MLA for Oak Bay. He enjoyed his latter years spending time with his family here, as well as rediscovering family in Ukraine. Mark leaves his wife of 61 years, Lorraine; son, Donald (Lynne) of Chilliwack; daughter, Marilyn of Victoria and granddaughter, Carole (Brent Kellas) of Mission, B.C. and grandson, Keith (Kaarina Lenk) and great-grandson, Elliott Preston Lenk. He also leaves to mourn his brothers, Steve (Oregon) (also his best friend in the world), Jack and sister, Irene (California); and many nieces and one nephew. Mark was pre-deceased by his parents and brothers, Alec and Harry Preston. Mark led a full life and enjoyed it all. Now he roams the universe asking questions to gain more knowledge. Before his passing, Mark expressed deep gratitude to the nurses at 3rd floor, VGH South and Victoria Hospice and his family joins him in their thanks for their care and support. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Anthony Yue. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Peter Ho in St. Patrick's Church, 2060 Haultain Street on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 12:10 pm.
