Anna Barbara Rist (maiden name per Ancestry.com Family Tree pdf fact sheet), was born in Germany on 9 March 1862 to Johannes Rist and Anna Barbara Raible. She married Martin Neher on 22 November 1881 (this date is inconsistent with the birth date of her first child with Martin Neher), with whom she had three children, Emilie born on 9 February 1880, Barbara born September 1883, and Johan born September 1884. Martin died, date unknown but before 1887, and Anna Barbara married Karl F. Rist (relationship with Johannes unknown) on 8 April 1887 per Rist family data provided to me by Karen Reit. Anna had three more children with Karl: Anna Marie "Mary" born May 1888, Christian born 2 March 1890, and Anna Katherina born October 1891, before the family (without Emilie but with Karl's mother, Anna Rist) immigrated to America. The Rist family, without Emilie, arrived at Ellis Island on 16 March 1893. Emily followed a year later, arriving at Ellis Island on 23 April 1894. After settling in Turner County, South Dakota, Karl and Anna Barbara Rist had seven more children, Rosena Wilhemina "Minnie" born April 1894, Karl Frederich "Fred" born October 1896, Wilhelm J. "William" born August 1898, Carl L. born 21 November 1900, Gustav Adolph born 1902, Eugene A. born 7 April 1904, and Emma F. born 16 April 1906.
