Michael H.Vanderpool, 30, of Wysox, Pa., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at home unexpectedly.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1981 in Sayre, Pa., the son of Harold E. Strope and Patty Vanderpool.

Michael enjoyed playing bingo and Texas hold 'em. He was a loving father, fianceé, and son. Michael had a wonderful sense of humor. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees fan. He loved playing basketball with his kids. He was very active in his children's sporting and scouting activities.

He is predeceased by his father Harold E. Strope, grandfather Howard Vanderpool, and special grandfather Robert McManus.

Michael is survived by his fiancé of 15 years Kristin McManus at home; daughter Allison Vanderpool at home; son Andrew Vanderpool at home; mother Patty Vanderpool of Sayre, Pa.; stepfather Carl Brewer of South Waverly, Pa.; maternal grandmother Grace Vanderpool of Sayre, Pa.; brother Scott Brewer; special grandmother Rose McManus; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and best friend Kenny VanDyke of Owego, N.Y.

Friends and family may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 at the Alteri-Bowen Funeral Home, 314 Desmond St., Sayre, Pa. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home at with the Rev. Dr. Karen Ballard officiating.

Burial will be in the Stevens Cemetery, Pike Twp.
