Roy Stephen Dyer, 78, 924 Plass, died Thursday evening in a Topeka hospital where he had been a patient since Feb.1, 1970.
He was born in Greene County, Tenn., March 20, 1893 and had lived in Topeka since 1910. Mr. Dyer had been the day wire chief for the Santa Fe Railway since 1914. He retired in March of 1970. He was a member of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers and the First Southern Baptist Church.
Mr. Dyer was married to Florebell May July 5, 1944. She survives at the home. Other survivors include 2 sons, Roy Stephen Dyer, Jr. and Stephen Alexander Dyer, both of Topeka; 2 daughters, Mrs. Mary Martin Marquis, Tustin, Calif., and Miss Martha Jane Dyer, Midway, Tenn.; 2 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at First Southern Baptist Church with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
