Betty Jane (Bullard) Hamilton, 89, of Needham, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.

She was born Oct. 9, 1922, to Albert and Julia (Neal) Bullard.

She married Donald "Spud" Hamilton on Sept. 19, 1942; he preceded her in death Oct. 23, 1998.

She was a cook at Boggstown and Triton elementary schools. She also was a farmer and a homemaker.

She was a member of a local home economics club and loved square-dancing.

She is survived by a son, Fred (Gayla) Hamilton; four daughters, Becky (Matt) Caddell, Judy (Tom) Hamilton, Carol (Buzz) Prazeau and Linda (Norma) Julian; two brothers, Jim (Martha) Bullard and Bill (Pam) Bullard; a sister, Edith Washam; a sister-in-law, Gladys Bullard; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a good family friend, Pauline Hubbard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Bob Hamilton; three brothers, Kenneth, Richard and Albert J. Bullard; and a sister, Norma Bridges.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Home, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, with the Rev. Dennis Patton officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery east of Franklin.
