David E. Stout, one of the oldest and best known members of the State Soldiers' Home, died at 5:30 o'clock last evening from chronic nephritis. He was born in Marion county on May 22, 1845, and was admitted to the home from that county on May 19,1897. He leaves a widow Mrs. Julia Stout, who lives in Kensington, Md. Mr. Stout was a drummer boy during the Civil War, going out with Company E Eleventh Indiana Infantry. Gen. Lew Walace's command. He served until the close of the war and had an excellent record. Some of his experiences were thrilling. Mr. Stout was a man of more than ordinary ability and was popoular with the members of the home. He was a courteous and genial gentleman when at his best and was a very interesting companion. The funeral will probably take place at the home. Note: the funeral was conduced from the Assembly Hall at the State Soldidrrs Home yesterday (October 2) afternoon at 2:45 o'clock and the interment in the Home Cemetery.
