Graveside service for Alma Leola (Diefe) Johnson, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Veradale United Church of Christ. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Johnson, who was born in Ruff, Wash., died Friday. She was a longtime resident of Spokane. She graduated from high school in Marlin, Wash., and attended Cheney Normal School. She married Glen Carl Johnson in 1935, and the couple made their home in Spokane. Mrs. Johnson worked at The Crescent Lunch Room and was a bookkeeper for John W. Graham for a time. She worked as a bookkeeper for Bayer Corp. for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Veradale United Church of Christ, the Corbin Senior Center, the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and the Spokane Genealogical Society. Her husband, Glen, died in 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Eileen LaFrance of Greenacres and Dixie Nordness of Spokane; a sister, Norma Campbell of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
