William E. Ellis married second to Levisa Lee Godley on Oct. 22, 1894 at Big Spring, Montgomery county, Missouri. They had three children: Bernice Beatrice, Loren C. and Champ C. Ellis.
Obituary of Wm. E. Ellis: "William E. Ellis was born March 2, 1851, four miles north of McKittrick, and died January 30 on the home place, where he spent fifty years of his active and useful life. He reached the age of 73 years, 10 months and 29 days.
Mr. Ellis was married to Johanna Gruber. Six children blessed this happy union, namely: Sidney, William, Vesa, who preceded their father to the heavenly home, Clara (Mrs. Ernest Bezold); Ollean (Mrs. Clyde Patton) both of McKittrick, and Cora still at home.
After the death of his first wife May 12, 1891, he found another faithful and loving life's companion in Levisa Godley to whom he was married in 1894. Three children were born to this union, Bernice (Mrs. Elmer Koch) of McKittrick, Loren of St. Louis, and Champ, student at Central Wesleyan College.
Mr. Ellis was not an active member of any of the local churches but attended the Baptist church, and always stood for the best things in the community.
We are indeed sorry to lose this highly esteemed citizen, good neighbor and man of honsty and integrity. We sympathize profoundly, and mourn deeply with his faithful wife and the children the loss of their loving husband and kind father. We commend them to the God of Mercy, the Father of us all, who in his divine love and wisdom doeth all things well.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Big Spring. Dr. Weiffenbach from Central Wesleyan College brought a message of sympathy to the family and inspiration for the divine life to the large congregation. The mortal remains of the deceased were laid to rest in the cemetery near the Methodist church."
William Ellis' funeral was handled by Baker Funeral Home of Montgomery City, Missouri.
