Civil War Veteran, a drummer boy at age 14, enlisted on 20 Jun 1861. Served in the Company Band, 2nd Vermont Inf. Regt. He re-enlisted in 1862, mustered into Company E., 10th VT Inf. Regt, and served there till the end of the war. Discharged on 19 Dec 1861. He was at Ford's Theater the night that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.
He was a gifted musician, both instrumental and vocal.
