Father of actresses Viola Dana, Edna Flugrath and Shirley Mason. Emil and his wife May often visited the sets where their daughters were filming and were allowed access at any time to Metro Studios. Emil, well known in amateur sporting circles, watched his daughters train from their early childhood to stardom. He even went so far as to open a gymnasium so the girls could stay in shape.
