Married to entertainer Dorothy Olson, Fred was a theatre/café agent for the William Morris Agency in Beverly Hills. In this capacity, he booked talent for several theaters and cafes in Las Vegas. On a stormy night when all commercial flights were grounded, Elswit, a licensed pilot and his wife boarded their rented plane for the ride home. The plane went down outside Las Vegas and both perished in the crash.
