MRS. HELENA G. WOOD IS CLAIMED BY DEATH
Mrs. Helena G. Wood, of 1587 Jackson Street, died Sunday night at a Charleston hospital folowing an operation earlier in the day. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Ernest Thompson, pastor of the First Presyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Born at Shreveport, Louisiana, September 9, 1869, Mrs. Wood was a daughter of John Jacob Gragard and Mathilda Rierson Gragard. Her father was a prominent cotton factor of New Orleans, and she spent her girlhood in that city.
Mrs. Wood was married on June 18, 1895 to Robert Reynold Wood, Charleston business man, who died a year and a half ago. She was active socially and in church work.
Surviving her are one brother, George R. Gragard, an exporter of New Orleans; three sisters, Mrs. W. P. Stovall of Richmond, Virginia; Mrs. J. L. Sehon of Huntington, and Mrs. John Agregard of New Orleans; four daughters, Mrs. William W. Williams of Raleigh, North Carolina; Mrs. James A. Carrier of Charleston; Mrs. John E. Norvell Jr. of Huntington, and Mrs. William M. S. Dunn of Richmond, Virginia, and 11 grandchildren.
