On September 7, 1949 in Laramie, Wy, John Clayton and Dorthy Belle (Cooper) Morgan welcomed into this world their first child, Lynda Rae. She graduated from high school in Laramie, Wy in 1968. She attended beauty school in Cheyenne and went on to compete for the title of Miss Wyoming. Beginning in her late teens, Lynda experienced a series of life-threatening illnesses. Though these were a great challenge, her courage and determination enabled her to overcome them with grace and humor becoming an inspiration for others. She married Bill Gustafson and was delighted and surprised at the miracle of becoming pregnant. Misty Morgan Gustafson was born on Feb 14, 1982. Lynda and Bill later divorced.
She loved learning and took on a number of challenges: dental assistant, respiratory therapist, dental assistant, and volunteer coordinator at Campbell County Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed accompanying her mother on her rural mail route. Later in life, Lynda was diagnosed with a rare liver disease however this did not deter her. For the last 12 years at Jenkins Law Office, she volunteered her sharp mind and quick witticism.
Lynda had astonishing personal beauty and an immaculate sense of style and flair. She loved decorating, the great outdoors, her trusty 85 Chevy pickup "Red", and her Old English Sheep dog Sammy blue. Lynda always felt blessed, and was satisfied that all her dreams had come true. Her unofficial motto was "Kindness Matters!"
A Wyoming native, Lynda's family was amongst the early settlers of Campbell County. Her grandparents ND and Alfreda Morgan had homesteads on South Hwy 59. Lynda leaves behind her beloved daughter, Misty Gustafson (Scott Benson) and the joy of her life, her granddaughter Zoe Benson of Gillette, sister Karla Denzin of Sheridan, brothers Chuck Morgan of Medicine Bow, Rocky Morgan of Laramie, step-mother June Kilkinney of Boise, ID, her devoted niece Autumn (Denzin) Lee of Sheridan, numerous relatives, friends, and Clay Jenkins, an intimate friend who's unerring support and companionship was of great comfort to Lynda.
Graveside services will be held at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette on Friday, October 28 at 2:00 P.M. A celebration of life is planned for June 23, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Morgan family cabin in Story, WY. Donations may be made in Lynda's name to Pilots for Christ, Wyoming Chapter, Attn: Julie Shock, PO Box 94, Gillette, WY 82717, www.pilotsforchrist-wy.org.
A beautiful, vibrant star has moved on to another galaxy. Shine on, Lynda. We will miss and love you!
