I. W. JONES

I.W. Jones, commonly known as Uncle Wilee Jones, son of William and Mary E. Jones, was born at Iconium, Iowa, August 20, 1861, where he spent his boyhood days. As a boy he was active, energetic and filled a boy's place the same as any other boy in the same community. He was brought up on the farm with ample oportunity to develope into a sturdy country lad.

It has been a great many years since Brother Jones gave his heart to God and united with the United Brethren Church. Since he took upon himself the obligation of a Christian he tried to meet that obligation in the performance of his task when it was made known unto him. He gave himself, he gave of his time, he gave of his means and was always ready to help in every good work. His was a consecration that was for life. He was faithful unto the end of life, thus for him a reward is ready. Jesus said "to such belong the eternal life." Brother Jones was united in marriage with Miss Arabelle Main March 12th, 1885. They began life together on the farm and continued there for a number of years after which they moved to Moravia, his home at the time of his death. To this union three children were born: Mrs. Elsie DuVall of Little Bear, Wyo.; Bertha Ann who died in childhood, and B. H. Jones of Moravia.

Thus our brother, neighbor and friend has labored and suffered until the end came, faithful in all his relations, to his fellowmen, faithful to his loved ones in the home, faithful to his church, his God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Our brother has been a sufferer for many months with leakage of the heart and other complications. He bore all his suffering with patience and often said it is all right. Everything that was known to do for his relief was done by loving hands but to no avail. God bad a better way. Tuesday morning, February 5th, at the home of his sister, Mrs. M. B. Tisue in Moravia, at 7 o'clock, God sent his angel to his side and in his arms gathered the soul of our brother and upon the golden wings soared away from earth to its home, the beautiful city of God. At this time our brother hud finished 67 years, 5 months and 10 days of earthly life but what is that to an eternity in heaven? He leaves to mourn their loss, two children, Mrs. Elsie DuVall of Little Bear, Wyo., and B. H. Jones of Moravia. Just lust September his compan ion entered the pe arly gates. O th ers who survive are nine grandchildren; two brothers, Alonzo Jones of Moravia but now visting in California, and George Jones who has lived in California fur a number uf years; two sisters, Mrs. M. B. Tisue of Moravia and Mrs. Laura Patrick of Monroe county; one half sister, Mrs. Elmer Dhority of Cantril, Iowa. Many other relatives and friends are just abiding their time when God's voice will be heard, "it is enough come up higher."
Funeral services were conducted from the U.B. Church in Moravia, Wednesday afternoon Feb. 6th, at 2 o'clock, Rev. D.W. Thompson officiating. Interment was made in the Moravia cemetery.
