My Aunt Irene wrote a short story about her life and it is named, "The Witch that Switched" and it was published in the early 80's. She led a wild and colorful life. She was involved in the occult, drugs, prostitution, witch craft, alcohol, everything evil Irene was drawn to. It would take a near death experience to change her life. As she lie on a hospital bed at Tampa General Hospital weighing only 69 lbs and slowly slipping away Jesus came to her. It was then that Irene became a born again Christian and would spend the rest of her life preaching the word of God and telling her story in hopes of saving others. Prior to placing her life in God's hands, Irene would travel back and forth from Tampa to Mexico with family members and friends bringing back drugs to use and sell. On one of those trips, she adopted a son from an Apache chief. A couple years later, she returned to Mexico and adopted a beautiful daughter from a Pueblo tribe. Her children were both so beautiful but I have always been fond of Native Americans. When her two children grew up they returned to their native tribes. There is no doubt in my mind that Irene would have died that day in the hospital had she not given her soul to Christ. Irene came very close to death several times in her life; although only God knows why she lived to be 82 years old. For those that do not believe in God they need look no further than the life of Irene (Arrington) Park. Irene was married several times throughout her life and one of her husband's last names was Hammond.
