Albert "Smokey" DeVito Sr. age 72 of Camp Douglas died on Monday August 18, 2008 at his home. He was the son of Joseph and Mary (Fiore) DeVito and was born on September 6, 1935 in Chicago, IL. Albert was raised in the Chicago area. Albert was united in marriage to Margaret "Peggy" Secor on May 9, 1966 in Oak Lawn, IL. After they were married they lived in Burbank, IL for 11 years and then moved to Tomahawk, WI for 15 years, and they have lived in Camp Douglas, WI since 1990. Albert worked as a mechanic in the US Air Force and later in the Army for 25 years. He also worked as a mechanic as a civilian. He enjoyed racing stock cars, and flying radio controlled airplanes. He was an extensive Wal-Mart shopper. Albert also enjoyed bowling and golf. He was a member of the Camp Douglas VFW Post 10911 and of the American Legion Post 133. He is survived by his wife Margaret of Camp Douglas, his children; Roz (Troy) Nelson of Hobart, IN, Albert Jr."Rick" of Camp Douglas, Joseph "Larry"(Michelle") of Camp Douglas, James (Stephanie) of New Lisbon, Anthony of Camp Douglas, and Amy DeVito of Camp Douglas, and by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Carl and Mike, and a sister Ann Healy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 23, 2008 at 10:00AM at St. James Catholic Church in Camp Douglas. Burial with military honors presented by the Camp Douglas American Legion Post 133 and VFW Post 10911 will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon on Friday from 5 to 8 PM and at the church on Saturday from 9AM till the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Camp Douglas VFW Post 10911 and American Legion Post 133 would be appreciated.
