16 Aug 1957 - Our community was shocked and saddened at the sudden passing of J. W. Carter of Aug. 5.

Bill was in his usual place at church on Sunday might. Early Monday morning he passed away with a heart attack. He was a faithful member of Belmont Baptist church - always ready to help in church and community activities.

He was a World War I Veteran.

He will surely be missed by is family, the church, and his many friends.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Clara Carter, two daughters, Mrs. Gerald Yates, Belmont, Miss Margie Carter, Shreveport, four sons, Virgil, Pleasant Hill, Julian and Glenn, Shreveport, and Billie F., Belmont; three sisters, Miss Mae Carter, Mrs. W. O. Skinner, Belmont, Mrs. H. S. Sebren, Shreveport; one brother, E. T. Carter, Belmont and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at Belmont Baptist church on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. O. S. Roberts, pastor, officiating with burial in Belmont cemetery.

Pallbearers were J. W. Campbell, J. W. Webb, Sr., Chester Howard, O. V. Cooper, George Cook and R. A. Haley.

Warren Funeral home of Many was in charge.
