Raymond E. "Junior" Norton, 75, of 1220 B. China Road, Macomb, formerly of Camden, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Ocotber 29, 2011 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born November 13, 1935 in Barry, Illinois to Raymond E. Sr. and Helen Farmer Norton. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Morris on October 27, 1956 in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Terri (Dave) Coplan of Macomb; one son Tim (Bobbi) Norton of Macomb; six grandchildren, Zachary (Rachel) Coplan, Elizabeth Coplan, Courtney (Karri) Norton, Jasmine Norton, Audrey Norton and Eben Norton; three great-grandchildren, Kynli and Kyler Norton and Ella Hare and one sister, Brenda Sue (Jerry) Ellis of Canton, Illinois.

Raymond worked as a lineman for CIPS/Ameren for 45 years serving the Colchester and Macomb areas before his retirement in 2000.

Ray and Donna built their cabin in Camden with the loving help of family and friends. They loved the Camden area and their farm. It was one of Ray's lifelong dreams to have acreage to hunt and a pond to fish in and enjoy with his family and friends.

To say that Raymond was an avid fisherman and hunter is an understatement. Ray loved an adventure and embraced any and all new challenges. He travelled for many years to Colorado where he bagged a bear, a huge elk and a deer which would go into the record books for several years. He loved the outdoors and nature. Turkey hunting, pheasant hunting, wild boar hunting and fishing in Canada, he loved it all..

Ray was a volunteer fireman in Carthage, Illinois. He was a member of NRA. He was active in helping several Vietnamese families relocate to Macomb. He served the First Christian Church in many capacities, youth group, evangelism and more. He taught the hunters safety course in McDonough County for several years. He was an assistant leader of Boy Scout Troop 330 for many years. Ray served on the Camden Village Board for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Dixie Croxton officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday until time of services. Burial will be in the West Cemetery in Camden with full military rites being conducted by the Macomb American Legion and Macomb VFW.

Memorials may be made to either the Camden United Methodist Church or the First Christian Church in Macomb.
