William Johnson, 75, died at his home in Windfall, Tuesday morning. He had been born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, Feb. 8, 1829. He was one of 13 children born to John and Mary Johnson, both parents having been born in Ireland, but came to this country early in life. His father lived to be 92 years of age and his mother 69. When William was eight he came to Ohio with his parents, where they settled in Butler county. Five years later, they came to Indiana and settled in Bartholomew county, near the town of Hope. On December 3, 1861, he was united in marriage to Miss Lucinda Taylor, in the vicinity of Frankfort. They lived in Decatur county until 1867, when they then moved to Tipton county and settled near Sharpsville. They moved to Windfall in 1880, where they ever since resided. They had twelve children, nine of whom survive, there being one daughter and eight sons, namely. J.T. Johnson, Okla.; Charles E. Johnson, Kokomo; Mrs. Mary Bailey, Sharpsville; Walter Scott Johnson, Zachariah T. Johnson, David A. Johnson, Irwin T. Johnson, David A. Johnson, and Omer O. Johnson, all of Windfall. William Johnson suffered a stroke on November 6, 1912, which rendered him helpless. He is survived also by his wife, who cared for him during all these years. He is a faithful member of the Baptist church and is a highly respected citizen.
