The son of Arch and Mary Wilkerson, he was born Feb. 9 1903, in Lawrence County. He was a former manager of Evans Drug Store and a clothing salesman for Rubeinsteins Mens Wear.
He was a long time member of South Street Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretchen; a son, Eugene V., who died in action during world war II, and five brothers.
He is survived by a son and his wife, David C., and Evelyn Wilkerson, a grandson, Jonathan; two granddaughters, Pamela Long and Tina Rice, and five great-grandchildren.
The body has been cremated with graveside services in Greenlawn Cemetery.
