James Thurmon, "J.T.", Godley, 86, a resident of Brunswick, died Saturday, October 29, 2011, in the Magnolia Manor on St. Simons Island.

Mr. Godley was a native and lifelong resident of Brunswick. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Brunswick Pulp and Paper Company (Ga. Pacific) in the Storeroom. He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church of Brunswick.

Mr. Godley was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Godley and a daughter, Jo Ann Boatright.

Survivors are a son, Bo Godley (Beverly) of Brunswick, three grandchildren, Chad Boatright (JoAnn) of Atlanta, Ga., Heather Corson (Jimm) of Asheville, N.C., Gretchen Summerour (Lance) of Brunswick, Ryan Boatright and Michael Boatright and a sister, Ethel Clark of Brunswick, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm Monday. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday morning in the Palmetto Cemetery at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga., 31525.
