Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon from the Union Memorial Church in Milford for Mrs. Lena Gottsche, 89, who died Wednesday at the Longhouse Nursing Home of Spencer, after suffering a heart attack early that morning. Pastor Robert Ruleman officiated.

Lena Gottsche was born Nov. 23, 1878, the daughter of Daniel and Fredricka Barth [Borth] at Grant, Iowa. She received her schooling and grew to young womanhood at Grant.

On Jan. 24, 1900, she was married to Albert Gottsche. They homesteaded a farm near Ludden, N. D., moving back later to Grant and in 1908 moved to the Milford community which has been her home for many years. Her husband died 12 years ago. Her survivors are the eight children, 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Her children are Ralph of Griswold, George of Spencer, Mrs. Clarence Eckman (Grace) of Arnolds Park, Floyd of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Lawrence Mueller (Elsie) of Griswold, Gilbert and Ray of Milford, Mrs. Kenneth Boyer (Dorothy) of Lake Park.

She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Rose Inhafe, of California and Mrs. Mary Pelzer, Galeno, ILL. Her husband, parents, two sisters, two brothers and two
grandchildren preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Union Memorial Church of the Lend-a-Hand Sunday School class, a charter member of the Booster Club, and a member of the Okoboji Cemetery Society.

A prayer service for the family was held at the church at 11 o'clock. Leyson Funeral Home of Milford was in charge of arrangements and interment was in the Okoboji Cemetery at Arnolds Park.

Pallbearers were her six grandsons, Richard, Bruce and David Gottsche, Larry and LeVern Eckman and Henry Mueller, Jr.
