C. S. Wallace, 68, retired wholesale grocery company executive and a resident of Dallas since 1902, died Sunday at his home, 3609 University Boulevard, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 12 noon at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Paul F. Bobb officiating. The body will be taken to Sherman for burial in the West Hill Cemetery at 3 p.m. Mr. Wallace was an elder of the Westminster Presbyterian Church at his death and had been active in the work of the congregation for more than thirty years.

Born in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 29, 1870, Mr. Wallace was brought to Texas as a small child by his parents who settled in Sherman. His father, the late John R. Wallace was a prominent merchant in that North Texas community. He was educated at the Captain LeTellier Private School in Sherman and successfully passed the examination for admission to West Point but decided to enter business instead.

In 1887, during the administration of Gov. L. S. Ross Mr. Wallace went to Austin where he worked for seven years in the State Comptroller's office learning the elements of the auditing profession which he followed for the rest of his active career.

Mr. Wallace began his long career with the grocery trade in 1894 when he entered the employ of the Waples-Platter Company at Fort Worth. He assisted in the opening of the Dallas branch of this company in 1902 and was general auditor of the entire company at the time of his retirement in 1930.

Mr. Wallace in 1896 married Miss Sadie Gregg, daughter of Judge and Mrs. E. P. Gregg [Edward Pearsall Gregg] of Sherman. Beside his wife he is survived by two sons, Charles S. Wallace, Houston, and Edward Gregg Wallace, Conroe; two brothers, John E. Wallace and Herbert R. Wallace, both of Fort Worth; a sister, Miss Kate Wallace, Sherman, and four grandchildren.
