Mrs. Jeanne McClung Shively, aged 80 years, widow of Dr. George G. Shively, died at 11:45 o'clock Monday night at her home in Center Square after a lingering illness of four years. She had been confined to her room for the last week.
Mrs. Shively was born October 7, 1854, the daughter of General Bartram Augustus and Martha (Strickler) Shaeffer, of Lancaster, Pa. She moved to Waynesboro in 1881, a year after her marriage to Dr. Shively, who died in 1893.
She was a member of the Lutheran church and took an active part in church work until her health failed.
Surviving are the following children: Miss Lillian, Bartram and Charles, Waynesboro; Mrs. J. E. Wolfong, Wallingford, Conn.; Mrs. Carl Steglich, Philadelphia, and Richard McGrann, Cleveland, Ohio. Four grandchildren, Winifred, Jeanne and Richard Shively, Cleveland, and Donald Shively, Waynesboro; one sister, Mrs. William R. Gregg, Denver, Colorado, and four nephews also survive.
