Wilma graduated from Harding University in Texas with a Bachelors degree in Journalism.
After graduating she moved to Long Island and worked as a teacher for the Riverhead and Westhampton School Districts.
She later worked for Keyspan Energy as a Customer Service Representative before retiring in 2000 and moving to Stone Ridge to live with her daughter and family.
She was a member of the Lomontville Assembly of God, Women's Aglow, Daughters of Sarah and the Oncology Support Group at Benedictine Hospital.
Wilma had a beautiful voice and would often be asked to sing at weddings and church functions.
She was the beloved mother of Paula A. Lucas and her husband William F. Walsh of Stone Ridge, and the devoted Nana of three grandsons, Billy, Michael and Kevin Walsh of Stone Ridge. She is survived by a brother, Donald E. Schmudlach of Lodi, WI, as well as several sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser, Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401 where friends may call on Thursday from 3 - 6 pm. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, 11am at Lomontville Assembly Of God, 123 Ashokan Road, Kingston, NY, 12401.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to The Benedictine Hospital Foundation for the CHESED Fund, 105 Mary's Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401.
