In the obituary Tuesday, January 6, 1942... Mrs. Grady Nix... The flag of Australia, her native land, was draped about the casket of Mrs. Nora Hank Nix, 44, widely known member of the " Looping Nixes " dare devil team, here yesterday afternoon as she was buried at Oakland Cemetery. Mrs. Nix, wife and " thrill partner " of Grady Nix, died late Saturday, following an operation at a local hospital. Mrs. Nora Hank Nix, who had been a citizen of the United States since 1921, had requested that the Australian flag be buried with her. It was the flag which flew from the mast of the Liner(or ship)which brought her to the United States. She was the Great Grand daughter of the first man born in Australia, according to her family records. The Nixes have made their home in Waycross for some years, living in the winter on a small farm on the Waresboro Highway and spending the remainder of each year on extensive tours in the show world. The rites were conducted at Hinson's chapel by the Rev. E.M.Claytor, rector of Grace Episcopal Church. Pall bearers were George M. Bazemore, J.S.Elkins, Liston Elkins, John Lee Cribb, A.L.Thornton and Sherod Collins. W.L.Hinson & Company was in charge of arrangements.
