David began his career in 1913 as an extra in Mack Sennett comedies and served as an early director at Sennett, Warner Bros., MGM and Mascot film studios. Working mainly with Columbia Pictures, Lederman resigned from films in 1950 and went on to work with Screen Gems television. Lederman was known for his ability to match up doubles and stand-ins with close-ups of the stars in action sequences and was very capable at combining new scenes with old footage. Director of 91 films and assistant director on 14 including "The Gold Diggers of Broadway" and "The Babe Ruth Story."
