A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2011 for 83-year-old Jerome T. Schnurbusch of Perryville who died April 15, 2011 at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born in Apple Creek July 13, 1927 son of the late Theodore and Regina (Wibbenmeyer) Schnurbusch.

He married Virginia Linebarger on April 26, 1952. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by two sons: Steven (Elizabeth) Schnurbusch of Orange, California and Larry (Tawny) Schnurbusch of Centennial, Colorado; two daughters: Patricia (Joseph) Perna of Phoenix, Arizona and Nancy (Douglas) McMillian of Perryville; two sisters: Bernice French of Perryville and Mary Jean (John) Kertz of Bloomsdale; a sister-in-law: Kay Schnurbusch; eight grandchildren: Amy and Ellen Schnurbusch, Brian and Justin Schnurbusch, Scott and Neal Fausz, Melissa Ogle, Jason McMillian; a step-granddaughter Madison Heidemann; four great-grandchildren, Dakota and Macy Ogle, Connor and Cooper McMillian; and two step-great-granddaughters Josie and Kaylee Palacios.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Alvin and LeRoy Schnurbusch.

He was retired from the US Postal Service and previously worked for Miner's Lumber Co.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; Holy Name Society; US Army veteran of Korean Conflict; member of, past commander and Finance Officer of American Legion Post No. 133 and K of C Council No. 1263 4th Degree in Perryville.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 18th and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 19th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home. An American Legion Wake will be held at 7 p.m. and Parish Wake at 7:30 p.m. Monday. He will then be taken to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for Mass at 10 a.m. with the Revs. Milton Ryan and Jerome Fortenberry concelebrating.

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery with military burial rites by American Legion Post 133 and Missouri Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau or Southeast Hospice.
