Ben ‘Spinner’ Bloemer, 48 years of age, was found dead at his home about 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 29th. He had complained of feeling ill earlier in the day but had been up and about.

About 2:30 pm, Harve Keller, a renter in the Bloemer home, not hearing him about in his room went to investigate and found Bloemer, apparently dead on his bed. He had evidently started disrobing at the time in order to go to bed. He was found with one sock and one shoe off and the other on.

An inquest was conducted Saturday evening at the Bauer Funeral in Effingham, where the remains in lay in state until the time for the funeral services which were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from St Anthony’s Church: The American Legion had charge of the military services. Interment was made in St. Anthony's parish cemetery at Effingham, Illinois.

The deceased was never married. He is survived by two brothers Clemet and Joseph and two sisters: Mrs. Henry Althoff and Mrs Frank J Koester, all of Effingham, Illinois.

Mr. Bloemer, who is said to have weighed about 335 pounds at the time of his death, had been employed with a maintenance crew of the state highway department for the past few years.
