Matthew Scott Wilkerson, of 1088 Hundley Road, Scottsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011.

He was born in Halifax County on Nov. 21, 1980 and was 30 years of age.

He was the son of William Edward (Eddie) Wilkerson Jr. and Lunnie Wall Wilkerson. He was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Layla Erin Michelle Wilkerson of South Boston; one son, Matthew Scott Wilkerson Jr. of Halifax; one brother, Chad Ryan Wilkerson and Whitney of South Boston; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Lou Wall of South Boston; two nephews, Cody Dean and Ethan Ryan Wilkerson; his fiance, Lottie Wells West of Nathalie.

A funeral will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Michael Parnell officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home.
