MRS. MARTHA ANN DOBBS DIED AT BEARDSTOWN
Mrs. Martha Ann Dobbs, 89, died Sunday morning at the Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown. The body was taken to the Lawler Funeral Home in Rushville, where services were held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, with Dr. Edward L. Gibson officiating. Burial was in the Rushville Cemetery. Mrs. Martha Ann Dobbs, who was born Aug. 12, 1859, in Steedman, Mo., passed away March 7, 1948, at Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown at the age of 89 years, six months and 24 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Peery of Steedman, Mo. Mrs. Dobbs was married to James Haywood Lindsey in 1878, in Steedman, Mo.
To this union were born 15 children, 12 of whom are still living. They are: Matthew Lindsey of Fulton, Mo., Mrs. John Pohlman and Fred Lindsey, of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. Ella Benskin of Wellsville, Mo.; George W. Lindsey of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Elmer Thurman, Mrs. Russell Prunty and Mrs. Onie Hay of Beardstown; James Lindsey of Moline; Mrs. Wilbur Turley of Rock Island, and Mrs. Ed DeMoss and Mrs. Forrest Bunnell of Rushville. Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and one brother, Sam Peery, of Hannibal, Mo., also survive. Mrs. Dobbs was married to Thos. Dobbs in 1923 at Macomb. He passed away in July 1933 at Macomb.
