GEER -- WILLIAM U. (BILL) Age 88, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 28 years, died on October. 26, 2011. He is survived by his wife, of 66 years, Elaine Welborn Geer. Both were born in Jones County, MS, one day apart. Other survivors include, son, Rod Geer and wife, Maria, of Albuquerque; daughter, Debby Negri and husband, Armando, of South San Francisco, CA; grandchildren are Anna Geer and husband, David Gray, Goleta, CA, Leah Geer, Austin, TX, Steven Caron, Huntington Beach, CA, and Amy Caron, Long Beach, CA; a brother, Ernest Geer, Houston, TX. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William W. Geer and Louise Geer, Laurel, MS, and a brother, Lucius Geer, Houston, TX. Bill spent the majority of his professional career as a staff member electrical engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He also worked for the Zia Co., Los Alamos, and Mississippi Power & Light Co., McComb and Indianola, MS, earlier in his career. In addition to his family, Bill's loves have been serving as a music director of various sorts and at different times for the 1st Baptist Church, Los Alamos, NM, where he also was a Deacon, and for Albuquerque's Hoffmantown Church Sunday School classes. He also was an active member of the Albuquerque-based Young at Heart Choir and charter member of its Men's Quartet. He enjoyed being a licensed pilot, owning trophies recognizing his tennis prowess, and snapping photos. Bill served as an Army 1st Lt. during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011, 3-5:00 p.m., at French - University. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111, with the Rev. Ken Moore, a friend, officiating. Interment will take place on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, 10:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Ed and Bob Little, and Virgil Griffin all of Los Alamos, and Olan Thomas, Russell Bartholomew, and Larry Voss, all of Albuquerque. Honorary pallbearers are Bill's four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to a good cause of your choice but with special consideration being made for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (www.imb.org) or Samaritan's Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org).
