From Centennial History of Arkansas (Colonel Gordon N. Peay bio, page 26):
The Arkansas Democrat of November 10, 1848, said of him: "John H. Crease was induced to come to Arkansas in the year 1837 at a salary of thirty-five hundred dollars, at that period being not more than adequate to the arduous and responsible duties of cashier of the principal bank of the State Bank of Arkansas, and the expenses of living then greatly enhanced. This salary was reduced by successive legislatures from time to time until the session of 1844, when it was reduced to one thousand dollars..."
He was the State Treasurer of Arkansas from 1849 to 1855 and first senior warden of Christ Episcopal Church in Little Rock.
Husband of Jane P. Crease.
