He was born on February 8, 1939 in Salt Lake City, UT to Norris (Bob) and Evelyn Briggs Parry of Bountiful, UT.
He was raised in the Bountiful area where he graduated from Bountiful High School. He served an LDS Mission to England and later graduated in Accounting from BYU.
He was married to Phyllis Nielsen and they had four wonderful children, Alan, Todd, Stephanie, and Kurt. He later married Jessica Barber, who had two children Andrea and Doug whom he helped raise.
He retired after thirty-five years of service at Geneva Steel, where he served as the local Steelworkers Union President. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and spending time at his cabin in the Uintas.
His lifelong passion was duck hunting. He was an avid reader and throughout his life enjoyed working on his model trains he had collected since his youth. He took great pride in his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.
He is survived by his sister Jane Flint (Clinton, UT), his children: Alan (Jenny) Parry of Sandy, UT; Todd (Cathi) Parry of American Fork, UT; Stephanie (Rick) Grimes of Spanish Fork, UT; Kurt (Angela) Parry of Houston, TX; Andrea (Brett) Clement of Sandy, UT; Doug Burch of Sandy, UT; twenty-three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and twin great-grandchildren on the way. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Bob and Evelyn Parry, his sister Nancy Clark, and his granddaughter Taylor Parry.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, UT. There will be a viewing held prior to the services from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
